And with Chatterbooks opening up to schools, it would be great to hear from libraries and schools already partnering to run Chatterbooks.

On Tuesday March 9th author and illustrator Steve Smallman is coming to do a session with children from Dudley Libraries Chatterbook groups.Schools will be visiting Dudley library during the afternoon and then he will do a session with our Chatterbook groups from 4 - 5pm.

Since June 2008 Bexley Libraries have gone from having Chatterbooks groups in 2 libraries to Chatterbooks groups in all 13 libraries including our Children's Mobile Library. Over this time we have had visits from a children's author, a magician, PCSOs, the fire brigade, Sainsburys, a knot expert, a 2nd World War evacuee, a classical workshop on Gods and Goddesses, the St John's Ambulance, Origami workshops, a professional storyteller, a speaker from the Guide Dogs for the Blind with his guide dog as well as many sessions based solely around books. You can find out more about our groups on our very own webpage http://elibrary.bexley.gov.uk/rooms/portal/page/24067_Chatterbooks_Groups

These sessions are run monthly in each library, and most libraries regularly get 15+ members coming. To celebrate the success of these groups, all the groups are contributing reviews and articles for a professionally produced children's Chatterbooks magazine that they can give to their families, friends and schools. We are also going to display them in all our libraries. I am hoping that the magazine can be featured in the next Chatterbooks newsletter.
